Tipping SuggestionsDear Members, Spring is here and the golfing season is underway. The Board of Directors hopes you have a wonderful golf season and that our facilities and services will help to maximize your enjoyment of our great club. This would seen an appropriate time to offer some guidelines on gratuities at Aurora Country Club. The general policy of our club is that there are times when the giving of gratuity is appropriate and recommended. To warrant the dedication and service provided by our staff, we must make sure that they are properly compensated. As is traditional in the service industry, the salaries of many of our employees are established with an assumption that they will be supplemented by gratuities. As always, the entire staff of Aurora Country Club is here to ensure that your time at the club is as enjoyable as possible. We are privileged to have one of the finest groups of people serving our guests and us. For Golf Operations personnel it is generally the practice to give gratuities during the golfing season, typically, April through October. For Food and Beverage personnel, please be considerate of their service during the entire year. While the giving of gratuity will always be an individual decision, your Board suggests that you consider the following guidlelines for gratuities. FOOD & BEVERAGE PERSONNEL: A standardized gratuity is automatically added to all individual food and/or beverage tickets. Your may wish to consider an additional gratuity should you bring a large group for dinner or entertaining at the club. LOCKER ROOM MANAGERS A minimum of $20.00 per month is recommended during the season. You may wish to consider an additional amount should you bring guests or play golf more than three times a week. CADDIE MASTER & BAG ROOM PERSONNEL A mimimum of $20.00 per month is recommended during the season. As in the case of the locker room managers, you may wish to consider an additional amount if you are having guests out to the club or play golf frequently. As for the Bag Room Personnel, please consider providing them with a nominal gratuity ($2) upon completion of your round. CADDIES In addition to the base rates published on the caddie ticket, it is suggested the member add a mimimum of 50% of the base rate as a gratuity per bag, per round. This is an amount that would reflect normal service, however, it is appropriate to award an additional gratuity in consideration for the caddie's tenure and skill. Consideration should also be given to special circumstances, such as when a caddie is required to wait for the member, if rain delays or suspends play, or for unusual service when entertaining a guest. It is very important that each member remember to fill out the caddies' evaluations or speak directly to the Caddie Master, as this is important to ensure the continued success of our Caddie Program. If you have any questions regarding these guidelines, please speak with a member of the Club's management, any member of the Golf Committee, House Committee or Board of Directors.
Sincerely, The Aurora Country Club Board of Directors
